STUD NEWS - ARAWEL LODGE

Arawel Lodge has relocated to the lovely township of Tinana, on the outskirts of Maryborough. It was a huge move with all ponies in toe... The green pastures of this beautiful 40 acre property is just a pleasure to wake up to each morning.
The ponies didn't know what to do, just hung around up the top until they realised that there were no fences for quite a while, just a running creek as the boundary.
Elargee Penzance is looking after them all keeping them together though.

We have a new partbred gelding to campaign this year "Valley View Falcon Crest" that we have purchased for Brienna to do Equine Studies on for the next few years.
Hope to see everyone at the Qld All Welsh.

STUD NEWS - BRYNTAWEL SPORTING HORSES

Bryntawel has had a great year for beautiful foals! We have a liver chestnut Section C colt by Gweunydd Sionyn(imp) from our lovely Seawynd Gay Girl, a black Welsh B filly by Rahane Sebastian from Bryntawel Thumbelina and a gorgeous bay part welsh filly from Bryntawel Kisses also by Rahane Sebastian. These youngsters will be out and about at some point during the show season as I can’t wait to show them off.

The 2009 breeding season has been particularly busy as we are using Weston Park Vesper (Section A), Rahane Sebastian (B) and Radnor Sir Gilbert (B) and quite a few well-bred mares visiting. We are all looking forward to seeing their foals later in the year.

STUD NEWS - TANLEE STUD

Tanlee Stud had a fantastic 2009 breeding season, with resident stallion Bangor Michaelangelo producing all fillies with heaps of chrome, his first foal crop.

Our old stallion Kingwood Dwn, who has now been sold on, also produced all fillies finally giving us stunning palomino and cremello colours. All mares and foals are happy and healthy.

STUD NEWS - TALSARN PONY STUD

2009 foaling for Talsarn pony stud has gone well, with three WMP foals by young sire Talsarn Thomas. Two very nice colts arrived out of Talsarn Blueberry and Lenson Park Desere which should make extremely good future geldings - although the temptation is there to leave at least one of them entire! After very bad luck the last couple of years in the filly department, the old mare Loch Sloy Divinity produced a little lady, which will be retained.

Old "Divvy" had a difficult year in 2009 - diagnosed with Cushings syndrome when her last foal was 4 months old she had quite a battle at times, including an operation, and many times did I wonder if it was worth it. But through it all she remained infoal, and a good filly foal is our reward - so she is now retired and well and living a happy life raising her baby. Also her son Talsarn Blueprint has been tried over a couple of mares this season so there may be grandchildren in Spring!

STUD NEWS - SHEFFIELD LODGE

Sarah and Bernadette Leviston from Sheffield Lodge are proud to announce their very first foal. Sheffield Lodge Ray Of Sunshine was born 4th December. Dam: Rayglyn Park Rhapsody (Hazlemere Inca x Nattai Daffodil) Sire: Crestwood Limited Edition (Mirinda Spycatcher x Tooravale Paige). Sunshine is the most dear little palomino filly, four white socks and perfect blaze. She was named after dear friend Raymond Grott. She is a half sister to the multi supreme buckskin gelding Rayglyn Park Perriwinkle (Owendale Pageboy) and is sure to follow in his footsteps. They have recently purchased the Antrim Choirboy (Antrim Limerick x Oaklands Park Minuette) from Antrim Stud, a stunning smutty palomino gelding who is going to be their next led and performance prospect.

Sarah leaves for the Navy soon, she has had a wonderful childhood showing and riding and is now grown up and ready to see the world, so Bernadette will be solo now with just one or two ponies at the shows. All who know Sarah will miss her smiling face, but she has a wonderful future ahead of her and she did remind me she cannot fit a pony in a submarine, so they have to stay home!

STUD NEWS - PETHERTON PARK

June Jones from Petherton Park Stud advises that four mares, P.P.Penyroyal, Twylight, Milly Vanilly, and Llewillah Karita, have all had top quality colt foals to Nattai Tomos Jones in 2009. Two chestnuts, two greys. Little P.P.Bari has Coed Coch Bari as his grandsire both sides. P.P. Dove JP will go to Tomos to try for that elusive filly. P.P. Dotterel has been served by Nattai Commodore.

NEWS CALL FROM QLD MEMBERS FOR ACTION

It is again time to be thinking about what news you would like to share with other WPCS members, so I'd like to invite you to submit news for possible publication in the March, Autumn edition of Action.

Please submit all news to me by Saturday 16th January 2010 – news received after this date may not be included.

Please keep your news brief as we do have a limit on the amount of space available for RGP news. So what can be included? Share your foaling news or new arrivals with us! Been campaigning your ponies? Tell us about your successes in the competition arena - be that showing, pony club, Dressage, Harness or any other equestrian competition. Are you a new member, or do you know a new member that you could pass this email onto? Then introduce yourself to others via the Qld RPG write up in Action – tell us a bit about yourself and your ponies. Basically anything that is news worthy and will be of general interest to other members in promoting the activities of Welsh ponies in Qld, is welcome. No references to stock being for sale are allowed, nor any advertising of stallions standing at stud - such items will be edited out of the text if submitted.

Feel free to submit a photo along with your news, however please note that these must include details of who is in the picture, along with the photographers name (and ensure permission has been sort if the photograph was taken by a professional). Photos should be of print quality at 300dpi - no need for resolution to be any greater than this please!

Please keep in mind that while I do submit your news and photos to the Action editor, inclusion is restricted by space so I cannot guarantee that everything submitted will actually make it to print. However, all news will be included on the Qld Welsh Pony & Cob Enthusiasts Blog.

Looking forward to hearing from you all soon.

News can be emailed to rothwhyl@bigpond.com
