We have once again been campaigning our ponies inhand, competing in a total of eight shows so far this year. Our team of four have had mixed results across the shows. However our section D filly Indi Party Girl has had great success consistently winning and taking out Best Welsh In Hand at Allora show.
With all of the rain over the New Year our paddocks are beautiful and green and our ponies don’t know what to do with all the grass. Our three section B foals are growing nicely and we look forward to getting them out and about next show season.

STUD NEWS - MEADOWVALE WELSH PONIES
We are happy to announce that we have two delightful fillies by Roseraie Masquerade, our section A stallion, each stamped with his personality and gentle nature. A lovely bay filly called Meadowvale Poppy and the other is a stunning little buckskin who will be registered Part Welsh, out of our black buckskin Shetland. We are finding the Welsh A / Shetland cross is excellent for carriage driving and children’s first mounts. They are solid but stylish with wonderful gentle temperament. All our colts from last year have gone to new homes and we now eagerly await the possibility of another buckskin foal to match Meadowvale Chickpea, then we will be busy with a pair in harness! We have enjoyed nearly 44 inches of rain since Boxing Day, so we have lots of fat little ponies and Clydesdales.

STUD NEWS - STONYVALE PONIES
We are settling in to a new property in the Scenic Rim of South East Qld and would like to thank Steven and Kathy Pile from Dracmoore stud for their hospitality during the transition period. Our move in date was mid way through the first school term so their hospitality meant we had a much easier time in relocating schools for the children.
We are absolutely loving being here and even managed to present three ponies at our All Welsh this year and had the added enjoyment of watching Alison Sketcher compete with Stonyvale Casper (our first foal recorded for our stud).

STUD NEWS - TARAHUA PONY STUD
I am relatively new to the WPCSA, having relocated here from NZ in late 2007. Carrying on a family stud, I have taken over the reins of "Tarahua Pony Stud" from my Grandmother, who started the Stud in New Zealand in 1982. Over the years we have had numerous Welsh ponies and I have a definite love of the breed. In our relocation to Australia in 2007, I brought with us a couple of ponies (can't leave home without them!) including our Stallion, Tarahua St Triston (pictured above), who is registered 25%Welsh and carries some very old English bloodlines including Wentworth, Coed Coch and Bwlch. He is a mix of English Riding Pony as well, being sired by Keston St Christoper (imp UK). At 22 years of age, he is still sound, fertile and an absolute gentleman as always. He has not been standing at public stud since arriving in Australia - at his age, while the flesh may be keen, his owner is a little more realistic!
This foaling season he sired a gorgeous colt out of Thorwood Tabby Cat, who has turned out a stunning rose grey. He has his sires disposition and will make a very classy children’s pony. Triston also became a grandfather again this season after his daughter Tarahua Sheer Elation (imp NZ)(pictured above) produced a stunning colt by Bevanlee After Dark. Tarahua Master Maxwell (pictured below)is a keeper for sure, a gorgeous bay with a gentle nature and flamboyant movement.
While not producing huge numbers and not currently the size of years in the past, Tarahua Pony Stud aims to produce beautiful ponies with natures to match. It is again time to be thinking about what news you would like to share with other WPCS members, so I'd like to invite you all to submit news for possible publication in the June, Winter edition of Action.
Please submit all news to me by Saturday 17th April – news received after this date may not be included.
Please keep your news brief as we do have a limit on the amount of space available for RGP news. So what can be included? Been campaigning your ponies? Tell us about your successes in the competition arena - be that showing, pony club, Dressage, Harness or any other equestrian competition. Are you a new member, or do you know a new member that you could pass this email onto? Then introduce yourself to others via the Qld RPG write up in Action – tell us a bit about yourself and your ponies. Basically anything that is news worthy and will be of general interest to other members in promoting the activities of Welsh ponies in Qld, is welcome. No references to stock being for sale are allowed, nor any advertising of stallions standing at stud - such items will be edited out of the text if submitted.

MORE PHOTOS FROM THE INFORMATION DAY AT GYMPIE
We have had such a positive response from members since our Information Days have been held. Here's a little more info and photos from the Gympie Day.
Harmony Hill Stud kindly provided the Welsh Mountain Pony used during the first part of the demonstration. She was prepared by Megan Fah. John James made particular comment on not over trimming the Native Pony for the showring, and advised on techniques for pulling and trimming the mane and tail so as to give as natural an outline as possible.
Ruth Porter brought along a section B and Part Welsh for the demonstration, and it was a team effort to get a Welsh Leading Rein Pony to the day, with
Stonyvale Casper being generously loaned for the day by Alison Sketcher who had family commitments and could not come herself (she would have loved the day and been very proud of the well behaved Casper). Getting Casper there from Caboulture meant that Paula Winkel picked him up and delivered him home. And Kim Quodling handled the gearing up and child rider on the day. Thanks ladies!
