SHOW NEWS FROM BOWMUN PARK STUD

Lyn Macdonald reports that the Bowmun Park Stud 2010 show season began with a very successful show at the Mareeba All Breeds Horse Show in May. With our show team of six Welsh ponies we took out champion in most pony classes entered. Our most successful pony being Wattles Spring Flower, our black Welsh B mare, taking out Champion in all classes she was entered in and then being awarded Supreme Champion Led Exhibit of the show. Atherton Agricultural Show was also a very successful show for W. Spring Flower winning Champion in all pony classes she was entered in and Grand Champion Pony of Show and then Supreme Led Exhibit of Show.

Innisfail Agricultural Show was held on the 15th & 16th July, this show was also very successful for Bowmun Park Stud. This time our buckskin Welsh A mare Wattles Lady Hawk won Supreme Champion Led exhibit of show.

Bowmun Park was successful in winning Supreme Led Exhibit of Cairns Show 2010 with our Welsh "A" stallion Wattles Lady Killer. (pictured above)
Wattles Lady Killer was also sashed Supreme Led exhibit at Tully Show and Grand Champion Male exhibit at Charters Towers Show.

NEWS CALL FROM QLD MEMBERS FOR ACTION

Hi everyone

It is again time to be thinking about what news you would like to share with other WPCS members, so I'd like to invite you all to submit news for possible publication in the September, Spring edition of Action.

Please submit all news to me by Saturday 17th July – news received after this date may not be included.

Please keep your news brief as we do have a limit on the amount of space available for RGP news. So what can be included? Been campaigning your ponies? Tell us about your successes in the competition arena - be that showing, pony club, Interschool, Dressage, Harness or any other equestrian competition. Are you a new member, or do you know a new member that you could pass this email onto? Then introduce yourself to others via the Qld RPG write up in Action – tell us a bit about yourself and your ponies. Basically anything that is news worthy and will be of general interest to other members in promoting the activities of Welsh ponies in Qld, is welcome. No references to stock being for sale are allowed, nor any advertising of stallions standing at stud - such items will be edited out of the text if submitted.

Feel free to submit a photo along with your news, however please note that these must include details of who is in the picture, along with the photographers name (and ensure permission has been sort if the photograph was taken by a professional). Photos should be of print quality at 300dpi - no need for resolution to be any greater than this please!

Please keep in mind that while I do submit your news and photos to the Action editor, inclusion is restricted by space so I cannot guarantee that everything submitted will actually make it to print. However, a more thorough news coverage will be posted on the Qld Welsh Enthusiasts Blog http://qldwelsh.blogspot.com.

STUD NEWS - MOONLIGHT PONY STUD

Moonlight Oberon has been sold to Beth Eldred and she has gelded him and is preparing him for harness which I'm sure he will do very well at. We have purchased a beautiful colt from Anne Ryan at Meadowvale Stud, his name is Meadowvale Mister Riley and he is brown and full of chrome. He will be standing his first season this year at Moonlight Pony Stud. He is Section A and just a real loving boy. We only have 1 foal due this season by Valley View Sir Walter out of our B supreme Champion mare Milo Arwen. Of course we are hoping for a filly.

NEXT QLD RPG MEETING - Sun 4th July

The next Qld RPG Meeting will be held on Sunday 4th July 2010 at Marburg Community Hall. 10am. All members welcome.

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST INVITED - YOUNGSTOCK SHOW

Calling for Interest in a Youngstock show for Queensland.

Member Kim Quodling is trying to guage the level of support there is for a youngstock show to be held at the end of this year. Possible Dates 2nd or 4th weekend of November and on the North side of town with the idea of making it accessible for as many members as possible. It will be a one day show only. Please note, I am not personally on the North side of town so will need to travel to get there myself. The choice of location is meant to open it up to members who find getting to our All Welsh challenging.

Possibly a Mountain and Moorland show. This will depend on interest.

For the Qld Committee to support the show we would need commitments from people prepared to organize the show and host it. I am prepared to organize but will need some assistence. Without a certain level of commitment I will not proceed so only promise what you are prepared to deliver. Please email directly with ideas, commitments or support for the show. STUD NEWS - EDGE HILL PONY STUD

Barn Hill Buzz, the lovely rising 3 year old gelding won Champion Welsh at the Childers show and Barn Hill Francis took out the honours at the Gayndah show.
Edge Hill Stud has been lucky enough to purchase the section D black mare Hillswood Sweet Celebration. She will be shown in hand and under saddle.
We are awaiting foals from Barn Hill Fynnigon and Weston Park Vesper.
We also have a lovely palomino section A gelding Flowerdale Tequilla for sale , broken in and going well ridden by a 7 year old.
